Coaching is not an easy task. It requires a lot of skills, knowledge, passion and dedication. But what are the most important qualities that a coach must have to lead a team to success? We asked 5 famous volleyball and 5 famous basketball coaches to share their secrets and tips. Here is what they told us.

Competence: a coach must know well the game, the rules, the techniques, the tactics, the physical and mental preparation, the strategies and the methods of training. He must be able to transmit his knowledge to the players and to adapt to the different situations that arise on the field. He must be updated on the news and trends of his sport and compare himself with other colleagues to improve his training .

Leadership: a coach must be the point of reference for the team, the leader and the responsible for the choices. He must be able to motivate, involve, communicate, listen, delegate, solve problems and manage conflicts. He must be respected and respectful, demanding and understanding, authoritative and democratic .

Passion: a coach must love his sport, his work, his team. He must transmit enthusiasm, energy, fun, emotion. He must be emotionally involved in the growth process of the players and the team, without losing lucidity and objectivity .

Vision: a coach must have a clear vision of the goals to be achieved, the means to do so, the values to follow. He must be able to plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the work done. He must have a global vision of the game and its technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects.
